A financial recruitment agency in Greater London is seeking a Finance Manager (Maternity Cover) to oversee key financial processes, reporting, and strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of experience, with strong skills in financial reporting, cashflow management, and VAT compliance. Proficiency in Sage and Xero is desirable, along with excellent analytical and communication skills. This role emphasizes accuracy, detail, and leadership abilities.
The Finance Manager (Maternity Cover) will play a pivotal role in driving the financial performance and strategic direction of the business. This role will oversee key financial processes, deliver accurate and timely reporting, and support decision‑making at the highest level.
Compile and analyse weekly key performance indicators (KPIs) to provide actionable insights.
Ensure accuracy and timeliness in reporting to support operational and strategic decision‑making.
Oversee the preparation of monthly management accounts, ensuring they are accurate and aligned with company policies.
Perform detailed variance analysis and provide commentary on financial performance.
Prepare and deliver a comprehensive board pack that consolidates financial and operational performance data.
Ensure the pack is clear, concise, and provides insights to support board‑level discussions.
Maintain and update cashflow forecasts, ensuring the business has sufficient liquidity for operations and growth.
Identify and address any cashflow risks proactively.
Ensure VAT returns are accurate and submitted in compliance with regulatory deadlines.
Review and improve processes to ensure efficiency and compliance.
Experience: Minimum five years of experience.
Technical Skills: Strong understanding of financial reporting, cashflow management, VAT and compliance.
Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret financial data, perform variance analysis, and deliver insights.
Systems Knowledge: Proficiency in Sage and Xero accounting software (desirable), and advanced Excel skills.
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to present complex financial information to non‑finance stakeholders.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Proactive and solution‑oriented approach to challenges.
Effective time management and ability to meet tight deadlines.
Leadership qualities with the ability to mentor and support junior team members.
