Job summary

BDO LLP is seeking an experienced Interim Chief Risk Officer to support a platform-based banking business through its authorisation journey. The CRO will shape the risk strategy, governance, and capability for a regulated bank, with hands-on leadership and close engagement with PRA and FCA.

The role combines strategic oversight with practical risk management, including developing risk frameworks, capital and liquidity oversight, and reporting to the Board.

Qualifications

• Previous CRO-level risk leadership in a UK regulated bank.
• Strong enterprise risk management and risk governance experience.
• Experience engaging with PRA and FCA at senior level.
• Ability to present complex risk matters to Boards and committees.

Responsibilities

• Define and implement the bank's risk strategy and framework.
• Lead regulatory engagement and authorisation activities with the PRA/FCA.
• Oversee ICAAP/ILAAP development and liquidity risk framework.
• Develop risk capability, KRIs and three-lines model; report to leadership and Board.
