Job summary

The ONE Group Ltd in Cambridge is partnering with an established charity to appoint an experienced Interim CFO for a 6–12 month assignment. You will lead the finance function, shape financial strategy and governance, and provide senior financial leadership to Trustees.

Responsibilities

• Lead the finance function and provide senior financial leadership across the organisation (Cambridge-based charity).
• Oversee management accounts, financial reporting, forecasting and financial planning.
• Provide clear financial insight to senior leadership and Trustees.
• Maintain robust financial controls, governance and risk management.
• Lead statutory reporting and the annual external audit.
• Oversee treasury, reserves and restricted funding cashflows.
• Ensure effective reporting of restricted funds and donor requirements.
• Review and improve financial policies, processes and systems.
• Lead, support and develop the finance team.
• Partner with senior stakeholders to support decision-making.

Job description

I am delighted to be partnering exclusively with an established Cambridge-based charity to appoint an experienced Interim CFO for an initial 6–12 month assignment.

This is a key leadership role, taking overall responsibility for the finance function and providing the organisation with strong financial leadership, governance and strategic insight during an important period.

Working closely with the senior leadership team and Trustees, you will ensure robust financial management and reporting while providing the insight needed to support effective operational and strategic decision-making.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Leading the finance function and providing senior financial leadership across the organisation
• Overseeing management accounts, financial reporting, forecasting and financial planning
• Providing clear and meaningful financial insight to senior leadership and Trustees
• Maintaining robust financial controls, governance and risk management
• Leading statutory reporting and the annual external audit
• Overseeing treasury, reserves and restricted funding cashflows
• Ensuring effective management and reporting of restricted funds and donor requirements
• Reviewing and improving financial policies, processes and systems
• Leading, supporting and developing the finance team
• Partnering with senior stakeholders across the organisation to support effective decision-making

About you

We are looking for an established senior finance professional who can step into the organisation and quickly provide confident, credible financial leadership.

You must be fully qualified, with significant senior-level finance experience and, importantly, have a strong charity/not-for-profit background.

You will bring a strong understanding of restricted funding, statutory requirements and financial governance, and be equally comfortable operating strategically with senior leaders and Trustees as you are getting into the detail when required.

Crucially, you must be available to commence the assignment before the end of 2026.
