Job summary

Sword Group in the United Kingdom seeks an interim Head of Architecture to lead the Architecture function, align technology decisions with strategy, and strengthen governance across IT, OT and digital initiatives.

The role requires extensive enterprise and solution architecture experience, and the ability to partner with executives and delivery teams to guide architecture roadmaps and assurance throughout a major transformation.

Qualifications

• Previous experience leading or managing an Architecture function or large architecture workstreams.
• Experience at Head of Architecture/Chief Architect level or equivalent.
• Broad knowledge across applications, infrastructure, cloud, data, security and operations.
• Experience establishing architecture principles, standards, guardrails and review processes.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day leadership and direction to the Architecture function.
• Act as interim Head of Architecture and collaborate with senior leaders for Architecture, Data, Analytics, Automation, AI and Engineering.
• Support and coordinate a team of Enterprise and Solution Architects.
• Develop and mature enterprise architecture strategies, roadmaps and capability models.
• Review architecture repository and identify gaps and improvements.
• Ensure architecture outputs are practical and aligned to objectives.
• Translate business strategy into architectural direction and guardrails.
• Lead architecture assurance of projects, programmes, vendors and partners.
• Establish architectural guardrails, principles and decision-making processes.
• Ensure alignment with SSE Group architecture processes and governance.
• Support architecture forums, design reviews and decision-making bodies.
