Job summary

Michael Page (UK) on behalf of a PE-backed SME in Manchester seeks an Interim CFO to provide stabilising leadership during a period of change, quickly gaining control of financial performance, reporting and cashflow while aligning the business with a new strategic plan.

You will supervise a small finance team, build relationships with the board and external stakeholders, collaborate with auditors and investors, and prepare a smooth handover if a permanent CFO is appointed.

Qualifications

• Ability to quickly build relationships with board-level internal and external stakeholders.
• Proven financial leadership experience gained within environment(s) of change.
• Strategic and commercial skills to enable rigorous appraisal of a new strategic plan.
• Hands-on approach, with the ability to thrive with only a small finance team.
• Ability to thrive in a busy, interim role with clear deliverables.
• Prior experience in an investor-backed business would be very helpful, though not absolutely essential.

Responsibilities

• Providing a stabilising presence to a business and finance team in a key period of change.
• Quickly gaining control of financial performance of the company, including timely and accurate financial reporting and cashflow management.
• Supporting the board's new strategic direction by formulating an aligned financial plan, using commercial nous to challenge assumptions.
• Supervise and mentor the finance team to maintain operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with external stakeholders, including auditors and investors.
• If appropriate, providing a strong handover to the new permanent CFO.
