Job summary

The Education Network Birmingham is seeking an Interim Assistant Headteacher to join a South Birmingham secondary. You will provide strategic leadership across pastoral provision and safeguarding, working with the Headteacher and SLT to uphold high standards of behaviour, attendance and pupil welfare. Prior DSL and senior leadership experience is essential for this role.

This is a senior interim position with immediate impact and ongoing support from the Education Network.

Qualifications

• Previous senior leadership experience within a secondary school.
• Strong pastoral leadership experience.
• Previous DSL or significant safeguarding experience.
• Excellent understanding of safeguarding procedures.
• Strong behaviour and attendance knowledge.
• Confident working with staff, parents and external agencies.
• Ability to provide calm, decisive and effective leadership.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational leadership across pastoral provision
• Lead and oversee safeguarding and student welfare
• Work as part of the Senior Leadership Team
• Support the school's DSL function and safeguarding procedures
• Lead on behaviour, attendance and pastoral matters
• Monitor and respond to concerns around student welfare
• Work closely with staff, parents and external agencies and professionals
• Support staff with challenging pastoral and safeguarding situations
• Contribute to school improvement and leadership priorities
• Promote high standards of behaviour, attendance and student wellbeing
