Job description

MCS Group is urgenty seeking an Interim Assistant Accountant on behalf of a key client based in Belfast, Airport Road area.

Immediate need - Hybrid role - Flexible working & Early Friday finish.

Longterm/Ongoing Temporary Role

The Role:

• Develop the approach to and systems underlying the provision of labour/materials cost analyses to achieve significant improvements in the accuracy of financial information available to the Company.
• Co-ordinate the production of labour/materials cost analyses across all contracts and manufacturing areas to ensure the provision of accurate and timely data.
• Lead the process of liaison and communication with operational staff to achieve the behaviour change necessary to enhance the accuracy of financial information generated.
• Create, develop, and maintain contract report formats that provide the full range of cost analyses required by the Company (including hours worked, unit costs, equivalent units, contract bibles, bill of materials/parts).
• Investigate and resolve all referred queries arising from report production, ensuring that cost corrections, re-allocations and adjustments are undertaken as necessary to ensure financial accuracy.
• Create, develop, and review the effectiveness of control measures necessary to assure the quality of contract cost analyses.
• Participate as required in the annual stock audit.

The Person:

Candidates must have:

A minimum of an Accounting Technician Qualification with 3 years' experience in a Finance environment.

OR

A lesser qualification with at least 4 years' experience in a Finance environment.

• A high degree of computer literacy with the capability to operate mainframe and micro based systems with a good working knowledge of spreadsheets.
• An ability to interact positively and assertively with a wide range of personnel at various levels within the Company.
• The capability to highlight discipline problems and take appropriate action to ensure the accuracy of the costing information.
