Job summary

Essex County Council is seeking an Intensive Fostering Support Practitioner in Maldon, Essex. This permanent, full-time role supports looked-after children and foster carers, with travel across the county.

The position requires experience in fostering and a trauma-informed approach, and some evening/weekend work may be necessary. Applicants should have an NVQ Level 3 or equivalent and be eligible to work in the UK.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to work with looked-after children and young people.
• Experience working in social care and with foster carers.
• Good understanding of safeguarding and statutory responsibilities.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends as required.
• Willingness to travel across Essex and beyond.

Responsibilities

• Provide practical, personal, and emotional support to looked-after children.
• Assist in assessing and planning for individual needs and life chances.
• Ensure case records and reports are maintained in line with policy.
• Deliver intensive fostering support plans to promote placement stability.
• Collaborate with multi-agency partners to support families and carers.
• Attend meetings and contribute to safeguarding processes.
