Job summary

Essex County Council is seeking an Intensive Fostering Support Practitioner to join a newly formed team. The role supports foster carers and looked-after children, with travel around the county and potential evenings/weekends. Salary ranges £33,049–£37,698 with a permanent, full-time contract.

There is a requirement to have experience in fostering, a trauma-informed approach, and a current right to work in the UK. County Hall, Chelmsford, may host interviews and the base location can vary.

Qualifications

  • Educated to NVQ level 3 or equivalent by experience.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development and knowledge in relevant areas (e.g., housing, employment, training for young people).
  • Experience working creatively with young people including young parents.
  • Experience collaborating with other professionals and agencies for the benefit of the client.
  • Commitment to working relationships that promote client independence.
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Provide practical, personal and emotional support to young people to meet assessed needs.
  • Facilitate ongoing assessment of need and reassessment with partners.
  • Enable and empower young people to self-advocate and make decisions.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and other agencies to support the young person.
  • Build interagency networks and understand voluntary and statutory agencies.
  • Maintain records and write reports per policy.
  • Attend reviews and planning meetings and carry out duties commensurate with the grade.
  • Deliver Intensive Fostering Support Plans and crises to support placement stability.
  • Facilitate Team Around the Placement meetings when required.
  • Work within a trauma-informed placement support framework.
