Job summary

Barbour is seeking an Integration Developer to join its IT team during a modernization phase. You will design, build, and maintain enterprise integrations that connect cloud and on‑premise systems, B2B partners, and e‑commerce channels using MuleSoft Anypoint Platform.

The role emphasizes SQL Server, SSIS, API-led integration, and collaboration in an Agile environment with developers, architects, PMs, and external vendors.

Qualifications

• Experience with MuleSoft Anypoint Platform and SSIS.
• Strong SQL skills, performance optimization, and data transformation.
• Knowledge of API-led integration architecture and enterprise patterns.
• Ability to translate complex business requirements into technical designs.
• Experience using Azure DevOps, Git, Jira, and Confluence in an Agile delivery environment.
• Education: Computer Science degree or equivalent.
• Experience in apparel, fashion, or retail is a plus.

Responsibilities

J Barbour & Sons is seeking an experienced Integration Developer to join our IT team during an exciting period of modernization. You will play a key role in developing and maintaining enterprise-level integrations that connect our cloud and on‑premise systems, B2B partners, and e‑commerce channels. Using a modern API‑led architecture specifically the Salesforce MuleSoft Anypoint Platform you will ensure reliable data movement across the entire Barbour ecosystem. This role is ideal for a technical problem‑solver who enjoys working with SQL Server, SSIS, and modern API technologies to support a global retail brand.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Development & Maintenance: Design, build, and maintain integrations using MuleSoft Anypoint Platform and CloudHub.
• API Management: Build APIs utilizing REST, SOAP, JSON, XML, and RAML.
• Database Integration: Develop and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and SSIS ETL packages to support data pipelines.
• System Connectivity: Implement seamless integrations between internal systems, cloud platforms, and external trading partners.
• Testing & Support: Perform unit and integration testing while providing 2nd and 3rd level support for API failures and database errors.
• Documentation: Maintain technical specifications, data mappings, and interface documentation.
• Collaboration: Participate in design discussions with architects and work closely with project managers and external vendors in an Agile environment.

Skills and Experience

• Technical Proficiency: Demonstrable experience with MuleSoft Anypoint Platform and Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
• Database Expertise: Strong SQL skills, including performance optimization and data transformation.
• Architecture Knowledge: Solid understanding of API‑led integration architecture and enterprise integration patterns.
• Problem Solving: Ability to convert complex business requirements into technical designs and troubleshoot across middleware and databases.
• Tools: Experience using Azure DevOps, Git, Jira, and Confluence within an Agile delivery framework.
• Education: Computer Science degree or equivalent professional training and experience.
• Sector Knowledge: Experience in apparel, fashion, or retail is considered a distinct advantage.
