Job summary

Doncaster Royal Infirmary is seeking a fixed-term physiotherapist/occupational therapist to join the Integrated Discharge Team. The post involves autonomous clinical work across ED, Frailty Unit and AMU to prevent admission and support timely discharge.

The role requires HCPC registration, Band 5 experience, and the ability to work across seven days, with involvement in team leadership and service development.

Qualifications

• Degree in physiotherapy or occupational therapy
• Portfolio evidence of reflective practice, relevant experience and CPD
• Current HCPC registration
• Experience as a Band 5 physiotherapist or occupational therapist across a broad range of areas
• Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients with complex problems as an autonomous practitioner
• Provide therapy assessment and treatment in the Emergency Department, Frailty Assessment Unit and Acute Medical Unit to avoid admissions and support timely discharge
• Take account of therapy and social care needs when planning discharge
• Link with community health and care providers to meet patients' needs
• Work across seven days to reduce length of stay, admission avoidance and avoidable readmissions
• Deliver physiotherapy and occupational therapy competencies to drive patient flow
• Support the Team Lead in the operational management of the Integrated Discharge Team
