Job summary

Essex County Council is supporting Epping Forest District Council to recruit an Insurance and Risk Manager on an initial 4‑week, on‑site contract. The role oversees the Council's insurance programme, manages policies and renewals, and maintains the corporate risk register, with responsibility to provide strategic insurance advice.

The position requires on-site work three days per week and offers a competitive hourly rate with PAYE/Umbrella options.

Qualifications

• Senior insurance experience in a large organisation.
• Experience negotiating significant tenders and renewals.
• Good understanding of risk management.
• Track record leading and inspiring teams and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Take the lead in all insurance matters including development and procurement of the Council's insurance programme.
• Administer and manage insurance policies and renewals.
• Ensure efficient operation of insurance claims process and maintain records.
• Provide strategic insight to shape the Council's insurance position.
• Advise members and officers on insurance matters and represent the Council at briefings and committees.
• Collaborate with colleagues to identify and mitigate corporate risks and report to senior leaders.
