POSITION SUMMARY:

Client is seeking a lawyer to assist Senior Legal Counsel in AXIS’ London office, on a short-term contract, to primarily support the client's underwriting and claims functions and provide legal and regulatory advice on issues affecting the business.

This is a demanding hands-on role where you will work closely with the underwriters and other professionals. You will assist in advising on (re)insurance risks underwritten and issues affecting coverage, manage contract documentation (including NDAS and TOBAS) and deal with claims matters. You may also be involved in advising on general corporate and regulatory compliance issues.

Day-to-Day Role

As Legal Advisor you will be a member of a busy broad-based Legal (re)insurance team in London responsible for providing general legal and regulatory advice and assistance to include (but not limited to) the specific duties outlined below:

Underwriting, Claims & Ceded Re NDAs
Policy wordings & endorsements
Binding Authority Agreements & amendments
Notices of assignment
TOBAS
Letters of underwriting authority
Powers of Attorney
Brexit-related issues
Marketing materials
General corporate and regulatory compliance issues
Other ad hoc legal support and analysis as required

Skills & Abilities

Legal qualifications essential – English Law Degree and qualified Solicitor or Barrister with 3 years + PQE
Proven post-qualification legal work experience in insurance/reinsurance;
Strong written and collaborative communication
Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
Ability to work in an international, multicultural environment within financial services
Ability to prioritize conflicting needs and progress matters proactively and follow through on projects to successful completion
Pro-active approach to problem-solving and good decision-making capability
