Job summary

Howden Group Services Limited invites applicants to join its Insurance Apprenticeship Programme in Bournemouth. You’ll start with a structured induction in Personal Lines and progress through hands-on training and mentoring over an 18‑month development programme.

Insurance Apprenticeship Programme 2027

Location: Bournemouth Start date: September 2027 Salary: £23,000 Duration: You’ll join us in a permanent role from day one while completing an 18-month development programme Structure: You’re expected to work in the office at least 4 days per week for the duration of your apprenticeship and must live within a commutable distance. After completing your apprenticeship, you will be expected in the office 5 days a week, as this is a fully office-based role.

What you’ll be doing?

You will begin with a structured induction before joining our Personal Lines team, where you will work alongside experienced colleagues and gradually take on more responsibility. During the programme, you’ll:

• Learn the foundations of insurance, customer service and sales through hands‑on experience and structured training.
• Support colleagues in finding suitable insurance solutions for new and existing clients.
• Play an active role in achieving sales goals by securing new business opportunities and supporting client renewals.
• Develop your written communication skills by preparing professional client correspondence.
• Build confidence speaking with clients and insurers, helping to answer queries and gather information, both via email and during phone calls.
• Learn how to build long‑term relationships and provide excellent customer service.
• Support with maintaining accurate and up-to-date client records.
• Learn how amendments to insurance policies are managed as well as the policy renewals process.

To be eligible for our apprenticeship, you must:

• Have the full and unrestricted right to work in the UK.
• Have lived permanently in the UK for the last 3 years.
• Have achieved a grade C/4 in GCSE English and Maths.
• Not already hold a qualification that significantly overlaps with the content of this apprenticeship.
