Job summary

Chichester College Group is seeking an Instructor/Technician in Carpentry to support teaching staff by preparing workshops and materials for carpentry and furniture making lessons. The role requires competence in wood machine operation and openness to training and development opportunities.

You will ensure safe operation of workshop equipment, supervise students during theory and practical sessions, and contribute to student assessments.

Qualifications

  • Industry experience in the wood trades sector.
  • Practical experience with maintenance and upkeep of woodworking tools and equipment.
  • Solid knowledge of health and safety legislation, regulations and safe working practices.

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for daily operation and maintenance of workshop equipment and teaching resources.
  • Provide technical support to staff and students for safe use of equipment.
  • Keep stores area and yard tidy and safe.
  • Instruct and supervise students and assist with assessments.

Job description

This is a full-time supportive role that will help teaching staff prepare workshops and materials for lessons in general construction skills such as carpentry and furniture making.

This role gives you the opportunity help people learn new skills and develop themselves into construction professionals of the future.

You will be competent in the use of wood machine equipment and be open to opportunities for training and development.

As our Instructor/Technician in Carpentry you will:
  • To be responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of the workshop equipment, teaching resources and the preparation and supervision of designated areas.
  • To provide technical support to staff and students, including safe use and maintenance of equipment.
  • To ensure that stores area and yard are kept in a safe and tidy condition.
  • To instruct and supervise students to ensure success in theory and practical sessions and assist with student assessments.
