Job summary

Rise Technical Recruitment Ltd is seeking an experienced Carpentry & Joinery Trainer to transform industry experience into classroom and workshop-based learning in Wigan.

You will deliver Level 2 and Level 3 Carpentry & Joinery training, blending practical sessions with theory while assessing progress and guiding learners toward employment or further training. Support toward a recognised teaching qualification is provided.

Qualifications

• Experienced Carpenter/Joiner or Carpentry & Joinery professional.
• GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or equivalent, or willing to achieve during probation.
• Willingness to travel between sites when required.
• Teaching qualification desirable but not essential; full support to gain recognised teaching qualification.

Responsibilities

• Deliver Carpentry & Joinery training across Level 2 and Level 3 programmes.
• Deliver practical workshop sessions and classroom-based theory.
• Teach learners about materials, tools, techniques and industry practices.
• Plan engaging lessons developing practical, technical and employability skills.
• Assess learner work and progress per awarding body requirements.
• Provide constructive feedback and support learner development.
• Monitor attendance and behaviour; maintain learner records.
• Act as Personal Tutor and assist with induction and progression planning.
• Support Open Evenings, school liaison and recruitment activities.

Are you an experienced Carpenter or Joiner looking to step away from full-time site work and move into training?

Do you want to use your practical experience to develop the next generation of tradespeople while gaining recognised teaching qualifications and enjoying excellent benefits?

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established Further Education provider within its Construction department. You'll work with learners developing their Carpentry & Joinery skills from the ground up, helping them build the practical ability, technical knowledge and professional standards required to succeed within the industry.

As a Carpentry & Joinery Trainer, you'll deliver a mixture of practical workshop and classroom-based sessions across Level 2 and Level 3 programmes. You'll teach learners about materials, tools, techniques and industry working practices while assessing their progress, providing constructive feedback and helping prepare them for employment or further training.

The ideal candidate will have strong practical experience within Carpentry, Joinery or a related trade and hold a relevant vocational qualification. Previous teaching experience is desirable but not essential, as full support can be provided to work towards a recognised teaching qualification.

The role:

• Contribute to Open Evenings, school liaison and recruitment activities.
• Support course coordination and wider departmental initiatives.
• Keep technical knowledge and industry practice up to date.
• Full support provided to gain a recognised teaching qualification.

The person:

• Experienced Carpenter, Joiner or Carpentry & Joinery professional.
• Degree or vocational qualification in Carpentry, Joinery or a related discipline.
• Strong practical trade knowledge and current industry understanding.
• Teaching qualification desirable but not essential.
• Willingness to work towards a recognised teaching qualification.
• GCSE English and Maths at Grade C / 4 or equivalent, or willing to achieve these during probation.
• Confident explaining practical and technical information to learners.
• Patient, organised and learner-focused.
• Able to adapt your approach to different learners and learning styles.
• Comfortable using IT, e-learning and digital learning technologies.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Committed to safeguarding, inclusion and learner success.
• Able to travel between sites when required.
