Job summary

Selwood is the leading pump rental solutions company in the UK, seeking a Labourer/Yardsperson to support our Birmingham branch operations. You will help load/unload, keep the yard tidy, and assist with installation and delivery tasks to meet customer expectations.

The role requires a proactive, reliable team player with good communication. Training may be provided for forklift use, and a POSITIVE, customer-focused approach is essential.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence with <=6 points.
• Over 21 years of age.
• Comfortable in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
• Able to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to input data on tablets/devices.
• Counterbalance forklift licence preferred; training provided.

Responsibilities

• Keep the yard and workshops clean, tidy and organised.
• Assist with loading/unloading, check paperwork, damages and fuel.
• Assist fitting staff with tasks such as lifting and moving.
• Clean hire equipment prior to entry to workshop.
• Promote the company while on-site.
• Communicate ETA’s and missing/damaged items to supervisor.
• Comply with PPE and site regulations.

About The Role

To support the operations of our busy Birmingham branch, Selwood are inviting applications for the position of Labourer / Yardsperson to join our friendly team based our at our branch site in Birmingham .

This role will provide vital support to the branch operations andwill be yard based assisting with various duties in conjunction with the loading and unloading of lorries to ensure timely delivery of our pumps and associated equipment in time to meet our customers expectations.

Task and Responsibilities within the yard:

• To keep the yard and workshops clean, tidy and organised at all times.
• To assist with loading and unloading of vehicles, checking against paperwork, missing, damages and fuel charges when needed.
• To assist fitting staff when required, with tasks as instructed, i.e. lifting, moving, in depot or on-site.
• To clean hire equipment prior to entry to workshop, using pressure/steam-cleaning equipment.
• To be polite and co-operative with staff/customers, and, when on-site, be aware of promoting the Company.
• To be able to communicate accurately to your supervisor, work colleagues and customers re job specifications when required e.g. ETA’s and missing and damaged items, obtaining signatures and names when delivering/collecting.
• To comply with all PPE requirements for Selwood or site regulations.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Full Clean UK driving licence (no more than 6 points).
• Over 21 years of age (for insurance purposes).
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
• Ability to act proactively whilst maintaining a methodical, organised, attention to detail approach.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a confident and positive approach while engaging with internal and external stakeholders, including customers.
• Working knowledge of tablet devices, with the ability to check and input information.
• Able to lift heavy objects, work outdoors, and perform tasks that require significant physical effort.
• Current Counterbalance Forklift truck licence is preferred, although not essential as training can be provided.
