Job summary

Imap Centre Limited is seeking an SEN Primary Teacher to deliver engaging and personalised learning to students aged 7-11 with autism and additional learning needs at Barrow School, Cheshire. You will work with therapists, staff and families to support academic, social and emotional progress.

You will implement strategies to raise achievement, contribute to annual reviews, and stay committed to professional development while safeguarding pupils and promoting wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching children or young people with SEND.
• Experience teaching within a primary setting.
• Understanding of the Primary National Curriculum.
• Experience supporting children with SEND and diverse learning needs.
• Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate learning strategies.
• Strong classroom management skills.
• Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to adapt learning to meet individual needs.
• Strong organisational and IT skills.
• QTS/NQT or equivalent, or Level 3 Teaching Award.
• Good interpersonal skills including ability to work effectively with teams and agencies.
• Ability to work collaboratively.

Responsibilities

• Delivery of teaching and learning to a small group of students with Autism, associated challenging behaviour and other learning difficulties, whilst delivering the national curriculum.
• Leading and contributing to annual reviews, reports and parent meetings as required.
• Safeguarding and protecting our pupils.
• Raise attendance, attainment and achievement.
• Working alongside pupils to support learning and life skills.
• Create a nurturing and stimulating classroom environment promoting learning, independence and wellbeing.
• Develop pupils' literacy, numeracy, communication and social skills through creative teaching approaches.
• Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation through a child-centred approach.
• Contribute to wider school life, including enrichment activities, educational visits and celebrations of achievement.
