Job summary

Marchant Recruitment are seeking a motivated Science Teacher to join a mixed secondary school in Peterborough. The role requires delivering Science across key stages with opportunities to specialise in Biology, Chemistry or Physics depending on the candidate.

You will create engaging lessons, establish clear objectives, use assessment to drive progress and support student attainment. Applications from experienced teachers and ECTs are welcome, with overseas teachers considered subject to UK

Qualifications

• A qualified Science Teacher able to teach at the appropriate key stages.
• A formal teaching qualification with QTS, such as a PGCE or equivalent recognised qualification.
• Secure subject knowledge in the relevant Science disciplines.
• The ability to plan engaging lessons that promote scientific enquiry and practical understanding.
• Knowledge of effective assessment, feedback and intervention strategies.
• An understanding of laboratory safety and the management of practical activities.
• Strong communication skills and effective classroom management.

Responsibilities

• Teach Science across the appropriate key stages, with opportunities to deliver Biology, Chemistry and Physics according to your specialism.
• Create engaging lessons that combine clear instruction, structured practice, practical activities and independent thinking.
• Establish positive classroom routines, communicate learning objectives effectively and ensure students understand how to make progress.
• Contribute to the wider work of the department, including shared planning, assessment moderation, intervention and the development of resources.
• Help students develop the ability to interpret scientific information, evaluate experimental results and apply their knowledge to unfamiliar contexts.
• Support learners at different attainment levels through targeted approaches.
