Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is partnering with a high-performing Grammar School in Oxford, Oxfordshire, to appoint a Religious Studies Teacher for a January 2027 start. You will deliver engaging RS lessons, across key stages, and inspire students to explore religion, philosophy, ethics and the wider world.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an appropriate teaching qualification.
• Degree in Religious Studies, Theology, Philosophy or related subject.
• Experience teaching Religious Studies within a secondary school is desirable.
• Strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm for Religious Studies, philosophy and ethics.
• Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
• Eligibility to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging Religious Studies lessons across Key Stages.
• Teaching topics covering religion, philosophy, ethics and contemporary moral issues.
• Prepare students effectively for GCSE and/or A-Level examinations where required.
• Develop students’ critical thinking, analytical and evaluative skills.
• Creating an inclusive classroom environment where students feel confident discussing different beliefs and perspectives.
• Assessing student progress and providing constructive feedback to support academic development.
• Contributing to curriculum planning, departmental initiatives and wider school activities.
• Supporting enrichment activities, discussion groups and other opportunities to develop students’ interest in Religious Studies.
