Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an appropriate teaching qualification.
• A degree or relevant qualification in Religious Studies, Theology, Philosophy or a related subject.
• Experience teaching Religious Studies within a secondary school environment is desirable.
• Strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm for Religious Studies, philosophy and ethics.
• Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
• The ability to inspire students and encourage thoughtful discussion and independent thinking.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• A commitment to high standards of teaching, learning and student achievement.
• Eligibility to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Planning and delivering engaging Religious Studies lessons across the relevant Key Stages.
• Teaching topics covering religion, philosophy, ethics and contemporary moral issues.
• Preparing students effectively for GCSE and/or A-Level examinations where required.
• Developing students’ critical thinking, analytical and evaluative skills.
• Creating an inclusive classroom environment where students feel confident discussing different beliefs and perspectives.
• Assessing student progress and providing constructive feedback to support academic development.
• Contributing to curriculum planning, departmental initiatives and wider school activities.
• Supporting enrichment activities, discussion groups and other opportunities to develop students’ interest in Religious Studies.
