Job summary

Empowering Learning Ltd is seeking a dedicated Primary Teaching Assistant to support pupils across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 in Derby. The role involves working closely with class teachers to deliver engaging activities and provide targeted support for literacy, numeracy and wider curriculum skills.

You will help develop pupils' confidence, independence and social skills while maintaining safeguarding standards.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children is desirable.
• Genuine interest in working within a primary school environment.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively with teachers and other school staff.
• Patient and positive approach to supporting children's learning and behaviour.
• Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.
• Willingness to undertake relevant training and professional development.
• A Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or 3) would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 with learning and development.
• Deliver engaging and inclusive learning activities alongside the class teacher.
• Provide individual, small-group and whole-class support where required.
• Help pupils develop literacy, numeracy and wider curriculum skills.
• Support children with additional learning needs per individual plans.
• Encourage positive participation in lessons and school activities.
• Prepare and organise classroom resources and materials.
• Maintain a safe, welcoming and inclusive learning environment.
• Monitor progress and provide feedback to the class teacher.
• Safely support during classroom activities, breaks, lunchtimes and trips.
