Job summary

Marchant Recruitment seeks an inspiring Teacher of Music for a modern secondary academy in Oldham. The role covers KS3–KS5, with responsibilities across practical and theoretical music, ensembles, and events.

You will work with the Expressive Arts team, visiting instrumental tutors, and lead performances and productions while supporting student wellbeing and development. Strong QTS and a degree in music are required.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or recognised UK teaching credentials (PGCE / SCITT)
• Honours degree in Music, Music Performance, Composition, or related discipline
• Demonstrated ability to deliver GCSE Music or BTEC Music Practice results

Responsibilities

• Teach practical and theoretical Music across KS3/KS4/KS5
• Direct or assist with extra-curricular ensembles and school concerts
• Guide pupils through sequencing software, composition, and performance
• Organize termly concerts, inter-house arts competitions, and productions
• Coordinate with peripatetic staff to track lessons and exams (ABRSM/RockSchool)
• Fulfill pastoral duties as Form Tutor and support wellbeing
