Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is seeking a Music Teacher for a secondary school in Exeter. The role involves delivering engaging Music lessons to KS3 and KS4, developing students' practical and theoretical musical knowledge, and inspiring confidence and creativity.

The successful candidate will possess QTS or equivalent, prove experience teaching Music at secondary level, and be able to plan inclusive lessons. The post offers a competitive MPS1–UPS3 salary and a permanent contract.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
• Experience teaching Music at secondary level.
• Strong knowledge of practical and theoretical music.
• Ability to plan inclusive lessons for varied abilities.
• Effective classroom management and communication.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver Music lessons across KS3 and KS4.
• Teach musical theory, listening, composition and performance.
• Develop students' understanding of rhythm, melody, harmony and structure.
• Prepare students for relevant practical and written assessments.
• Encourage participation in individual and group music-making activities.
• Differentiate lessons to support students with varied musical abilities.
• Assess progress and provide constructive feedback to help students improve.
• Maintain an organised and supportive classroom environment.
• Contribute to concerts, performances, music clubs and wider extracurricular activities.
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop resources and strengthen the music curriculum.
