Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is seeking a Geography Teacher for a secondary school in Farnham, Surrey. The role covers KS3 and KS4 with a permanent, full-time contract and an ASAP/January start. Salary is paid on the MPS1-UPS3 scale depending on qualifications and experience.

The successful candidate will teach geography across key stages and deliver engaging lessons using maps, data and case studies, with opportunities to support fieldwork and curriculum development. Immediate start available.

Qualifications

• Hold QTS or be an eligible ECT.
• Have a degree or strong subject knowledge in Geography.
• Be confident teaching Geography at secondary level, KS3 and KS4.
• Demonstrate effective planning, teaching and assessment skills.
• Able to make complex geographical concepts accessible to students.
• Maintain high expectations for progress and behaviour.
• Confident using geographical data, maps and case studies in lessons.
• Work effectively as part of a department and contribute to curriculum development.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging Geography lessons across KS3 and KS4.
• Teach geographical concepts through relevant examples and case studies.
• Prepare students for GCSEs and examinations.
• Develop map-reading and data interpretation skills.
• Encourage evaluation of environmental challenges and global developments.
• Use maps, graphs, photographs and digital materials.
• Differentiate lessons for varied learning needs.
• Assess written work and investigations.
• Provide clear feedback and set targets for improvement.
• Maintain high behaviour and independent learning.
• Support fieldwork and practical activities as required.
• Collaborate with colleagues to improve curriculum delivery.
