Job description

Achieving for Children's (AfC) Business Services Directorate is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Insight Analyst to join our Intelligence and Improvement Team. This team is a key part of our work to secure compliance with statutory reporting and supports operational teams across social care, education, and health services for children and young people. We offer a hybrid working approach for this role. You will spend time working from our offices, primarily across Windsor & Maidenhead, with access to some home working to support flexibility. Occasional travel to our other sites may be required.

Please note that this is a 24-month fixed-term opportunity.

While this role sits within our broader intelligence framework, your operational focus will be dedicated to our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) portfolio.Moving beyond routine reporting, this is a strategic role focused heavily on evidencing the impact of our work. We need an analyst who can generate deep, predictive insights to answer the "why" and "what might happen" within our SEND services. Yourcore responsibilities will involve:

  • Acting as a dedicated data lead for the SEND Reform Plan, working in tandem with the SEND Intelligence Analyst to provide essential data capacity.
  • Evaluating the impact of SEND interventions and strategic plans to inform future service delivery.
  • Developing and embedding impact-focused tracking and reporting models for Alternative Provision, designed to evidence success and demonstrate how earlier intervention maximises positive impact for children.
  • Managing and streamlining complex data collection processes and statutory returns to the DfE.
  • Developing and validating predictive models to forecast demand for SEND services, placements, and Alternative Provision.
  • Using advanced statistical analysis and historical data to identify trends and understand past interventions.

Acting as an internal data expert, you will work directly with operational leaders to ensure your analysis drives policy and practice. You must have:

  • Advanced Data Skills: Expert ability to independently query, join, and structure complex data using advanced SQL.
  • Strategic Visualisation: Mastery of designing compelling, intuitive BI dashboards.
  • Service Knowledge: Understanding of Children's Services operational data, statutory reporting, and systems (e.g., Liquid Logic / Synergy).
  • Actionable Insight & Presentation: Exceptional critical thinking to transform complex data into practical recommendations (the "So What?").
  • Strategic Communication: Proven ability to build a compelling data narrative and present complex technical findings clearly to non-technical senior managers and executives.
