Job summary

Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Peer Support Worker for New Dove Ward. The role draws on lived experience of mental health challenges to support inpatient service users and to strengthen the ward team.

You will join a multidisciplinary team in the Acute Assessment and Short Stay Treatment Unit, work within a female-only ward, receive supervision, and access training to develop recovery-focused practice.

Qualifications

• Educated to GCSE level/or evidence of competency specifically in English and Maths
• Evidence of further training in relation to personal recovery principles
• Ability to demonstrate first person experience and knowledge of recovery from inpatient mental health challenges
• Experience of having accessed inpatient mental health services, or similar
• Experience of working with people with mental health problems

Responsibilities

• Provide formalised peer support and practical assistance to service users to support recovery
• Be a member of a multidisciplinary team and participate in supervision and training opportunities
• Support evaluations, audits and research as part of service development
