Qualifications

• BSc in Occupational Therapy is required and you should be HCPC registered.
• Postgraduate clinical experience in relevant specialist area is expected.
• Formal post graduate training relevant to area is desirable.
• Clinical education training and membership of professional bodies is valued.
• First line management training is advantageous.
• Membership of a clinical interest group is desirable.
• Demonstrated CPD and ongoing professional development.
• Experience in hospital settings supports inpatient care.

Responsibilities

• Be professional, legally responsible & accountable for own work and activities, to manage clinical risk within own clinical caseload.
• Manage an autonomous caseload of patients with complex physical, cognitive and psychosocial needs, delivering specialist Occupational Therapy assessment, intervention and discharge planning, aligned to patient-centered goals
• Work as an autonomous practitioner and member of the multidisciplinary team, contributing to team discussions and influencing decisions about patient care programs, taking on the role of care coordinator and/ or vocational lead where relevant.
• Carry out treatment, using a broad variety of modalities and clinical reasoning to allow selection of the most appropriate technique evaluating, modifying, and recording all interventions and outcomes & adapting them to meet the needs of the patient.
• Use highly developed manual treatment skills requiring coordination, sensation & dexterity.
