Job summary

Kingston and Richmond NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a motivated Occupational Therapist to join the Inpatient Unit at Teddington Memorial Hospital on a 12-month fixed term mat leave cover. You will deliver expert therapy within a busy MDT, coordinating care and supporting patients to maximise independence.

You will assess designated caseloads, establish treatment goals balancing risk and safety with client preference, and mentor junior colleagues.

Qualifications

• Post-registration experience in occupational therapy.
• Ability to work within a busy inpatient multi-disciplinary team.
• Proven ability to assess and plan for complex conditions.
• Commitment to professional development and mentorship.

Responsibilities

• Carry out assessments for a designated caseload, addressing occupational performance and skills for clients with multiple/highly complex needs.
• Work with clients and staff to identify and agree treatment goals based on assessment outcomes, balancing risk, safety and independence.
• Use communication and negotiation skills to establish therapeutic relationships in complex cases and overcome barriers.
• Support junior team members and collaborate with partner organisations to optimise bed usage.
