Job summary

Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust is seeking a Healthcare Support Worker for Ruby Ward at Priority House, Maidstone. You will provide patient-centred care to adults experiencing acute mental health needs on a busy inpatient ward.

You will work closely with nursing colleagues to monitor physical health, use the NEWS2 system for observations, and support patients and their families to promote recovery and independence.

Qualifications

• Provide daily support to inpatients on Ruby Ward, encouraging involvement in therapeutic activities that foster independence and overall well-being.
• Conduct required physical health checks, accurately record observations using the NEWS2 early warning system, and promptly report any changes to the nurse in charge.
• Pass on routine information—verbally, in writing, or electronically—to team members, patients, carers, and external contacts to ensure seamless care.
• Offer practical support, encouragement, and advice to patients and their families or carers throughout their stay.
• Carry out day-to-day care tasks as delegated by the shift lead or nurse in charge.
• Participate in regular training and self-development while adopting a flexible working pattern to meet shift needs on the ward
