Because our patients need us around the clock, you’ll need to be able to work a variety of shifts across a 24‑hour period, including days, nights, weekends, and bank holidays.

Main duties of the job

Cherry Ward functions as an 18 bedded mixed sex acute ward for adults of working age. The ward successfully opened in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic and since opening, our well developed, diverse and high achieving staff team have received high praise. Cherry Ward takes pride on being a therapies driven acute inpatient ward where we focus on utilising least restrictive therapeutic approaches to caring for our service users.

The ward works closely with the other inpatient wards to facilitate treatment on both the AWP Callington Road Hospital site and other units across the locality. Working on Cherry Ward would provide you with a wealth of learning opportunities to develop new skills in working with service users from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures, who are experiencing an acute episode of mental health problems.

Each patient has their own private en-suite room and there are shared communal areas for dining, activities, and relaxation. Additionally, there are separate spaces for female service users to ensure everyone feels secure and respected.
