Job summary

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking Healthcare Support Workers for the Physical Health Inpatient Wards in Lymington and Romsey. Band 3 roles involve supporting nurses, delivering basic patient care, and assisting with monitoring, treatment, and recovery on active wards.

We welcome applicants with prior healthcare experience and offer progression from Band 2 to Band 3 on competency attainment. Wards include stroke rehabilitation and medical assessment units.

Qualifications

• Level 2 qualification or equivalent in a relevant area gained through experience, on the job training, short courses and completion of work based competencies
• Completed care certificate, in the process or willingness to work towards the care certificate.

Responsibilities

• Implement delegated care plans under the supervision of a registered professional.
• Provide essential personal care (hygiene, nutrition, mobility, sleep).
• Perform and record clinical observations, including NEWS2 vital signs, venepuncture, blood glucose monitoring, simple wound dressings, urinalysis, and cannula or catheter removal.
• Communicate compassionately and professionally with patients, relatives, and colleagues using a trauma-informed approach.
• Monitor and assess patient comfort and conditions through test results or observation.
• Safely identify potential clinical deterioration, signs of distress, or vulnerability/abuse, escalating to a registered nurse.
