Job summary

Orion Electrotech is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer/Project Engineer in Leicester. This hands-on role covers the full project lifecycle from initial customer engagement and site surveys through to design, manufacture and installation.

You will work with customers, manufacturing and installation engineers to ensure efficient delivery and high standards, using 2D AutoCAD and 3D Inventor, with RAMS support and close collaboration with production teams.

Qualifications

Strong CAD skills with 3D/2D software experience.
Understanding of fabrication, manufacturing or sheet metal design processes.
Excellent communication skills with customers and stakeholders.
Strong organisational skills with multi-project management.
Good IT skills and adaptability to new software.

Responsibilities

Producing engineering designs and layouts using 2D AutoCAD and 3D Inventor from concept to completion.
Conducting site visits, surveys and consultations to gather requirements.
Developing practical engineering solutions tailored to customer needs.
Preparing RAMS to support installation activities.
Coordinating with manufacturing and fabrication teams to ensure producibility.
Monitoring progress and supporting delivery from concept through to installation.
Using ERP and project tools to plan and manage activities.
Providing technical support to internal teams and customers.
