Job summary

My client, a Hampshire based mechanical building services contractor, is seeking an experienced Mechanical Building Services Design Engineer to join the in‑house design team. You will develop mechanical designs from initial concept through to construction for healthcare, commercial and education projects across the region.

You will design HVAC, ventilation, heating, cooling and domestic water systems, undertake site surveys, perform calculations and prepare technical submissions.

Qualifications

• Experience in mechanical building services design for HVAC, ventilation, heating, cooling and domestic water.
• Ability to take designs from concept through to construction and provide buildable solutions.
• Experience undertaking site surveys and assessing existing systems.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design calculations and equipment selection.
• Production of schedules, technical submissions and design documentation.
• Practical, hands‑on engineering approach and ability to own deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical building services systems across HVAC, ventilation, heating, cooling and domestic water.
• Develop designs from concept through to construction.
• Translate consultant and client designs into practical installation solutions.
• Carry out site surveys and validate existing mechanical systems.
• Perform mechanical design calculations and technical assessments.
• Undertake equipment selection and produce equipment schedules.
• Prepare technical submissions and supporting design documentation.
• Coordinate mechanical services with other disciplines.
• Work with estimating and project delivery teams and liaise with clients.
• Provide technical support during construction and attend design meetings.
