Job summary

Proactive Global is seeking an experienced Injection Moulding Machine Engineer to service and repair medium‑to‑large injection moulding machines and related equipment at our Oldham site.

The role requires a strong mechanical engineering background with practical electrical and hydraulic knowledge, and experience with injection moulding machinery is highly desirable. You will diagnose faults, carry out preventative maintenance and keep detailed records.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in mechanical engineering, industrial maintenance or machine servicing.
• Desirable experience with injection moulding machinery.
• Hands-on ability to diagnose faults across mechanical, electrical and hydraulic domains.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance on injection moulding machines and related equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults.
• Troubleshoot breakdowns and minimise production downtime.
• Maintain hydraulic systems, pumps, valves, cylinders and related components.
• Identify and resolve electrical and control-system faults, including motors, sensors and drives.
• Carry out mechanical repairs, component replacements and adjustments.
• Support installation, commissioning and servicing of machinery where required.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and report recurring faults.
• Work safely and ensure compliance with health and safety requirements.

The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical engineering background, supported by practical electrical and hydraulic knowledge. Previous experience working with injection moulding machinery is highly desirable, although candidates with relevant experience maintaining other industrial machinery may also be suitable.

• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults.
• Troubleshoot machine breakdowns and minimise production downtime.
• Maintain hydraulic systems, pumps, valves, cylinders and associated components.
• Identify and resolve electrical and control-system faults, including motors, sensors, switches and drives.
• Carry out mechanical repairs, component replacements and equipment adjustments.
• Support the installation, commissioning and servicing of machinery where required.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and report recurring faults.
• Work safely and ensure machinery complies with relevant health and safety requirements.

Essential Skills and Experience

• Proven experience in mechanical engineering, industrial maintenance or machine servicing.
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills.
• Practical knowledge of hydraulic systems.
• Electrical fault-finding and an understanding of industrial electrical systems.
• Experience working on large or heavy industrial machinery.
• A methodical approach to troubleshooting and preventative maintenance.

Desirable Experience

• Previous experience maintaining injection moulding machines.
• Familiarity with machine controls, PLCs, drives and sensors.
• Experience with hydraulic injection moulding presses and associated auxiliary equipment.
• Relevant engineering qualifications, apprenticeship or equivalent hands‑on experience.

Candidate Profile

A hands‑on, multi‑skilled engineer who can independently diagnose faults, carry out repairs and keep production machinery operating reliably.
