Job summary

Mansell Recruitment Group is seeking an experienced Tooling Technician for a plastic injection mould tooling environment. You will perform planned maintenance, servicing and repair to keep tooling reliable and production-ready.

You'll work closely with Production and Toolroom teams, carrying out inspections, cleaning and component replacements, and maintaining accurate records of faults and actions. A hands-on mechanic with moulding tooling experience is ideal.

Qualifications

• Experience with injection mould tooling or similar mechanical tooling.
• Strong mechanical fitting and assembly skills.
• Experience in plastic injection moulding is desirable.
• Ability to strip, inspect and rebuild tooling.
• Good understanding of mould construction and components.
• Experience identifying wear, damage and tooling faults.
• Ability to use standard workshop tools; basic machining experience.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance on plastic injection mould tools.
• Strip down, clean, inspect and service moulds and components.
• Identify worn or defective tooling components and recommend action.
• Complete routine tooling repairs and replace components.
• Maintain mould bases, bolsters and tooling equipment.
• Prepare tooling and spare components for production.
• Ensure moulds are cleaned, serviced and operational before returning to production.
• Respond to tooling issues and support reactive maintenance.
• Diagnose recurring tooling issues and highlight improvements.
• Maintain records of maintenance, faults and replacements.
• Assist with maintenance schedules based on tooling usage.
• Collaborate with Production and Toolroom to prioritise needs.
