Job summary

Mansell Recruitment Group is seeking an experienced Tooling Technician for a plastics injection moulding environment in the Midlands. The role focuses on maintenance, servicing and repair of plastic injection mould tooling to keep production downtime to a minimum.

The successful candidate will perform planned preventative maintenance, fault finding and component replacement, working closely with Production and Toolroom teams. Hands-on, practical mechanical work is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience with injection mould tooling or similar mechanical tooling.
• Strong mechanical fitting and assembly skills.
• Ability to use a range of standard workshop tools and equipment.
• Basic machining experience.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance on plastic injection mould tools.
• Strip down, clean, inspect and service moulds and associated components.
• Identify worn, damaged or defective tooling components and recommend appropriate action.
• Complete routine tooling repairs and replace components where required.
• Maintain mould bases, bolsters and associated tooling equipment.
• Prepare tooling and spare components for production requirements.
• Ensure moulds are cleaned, serviced and fully operational before being returned to production.
• Respond to tooling issues and support reactive maintenance when required.
• Diagnose recurring tooling issues and highlight potential improvements.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, faults and component replacements.
• Assist with developing and maintaining planned maintenance schedules based on tooling usage.
• Work closely with Production and Toolroom teams to prioritise maintenance requirements.
• Ensure tooling and maintenance equipment are kept clean, organised and in good condition.
• Follow company procedures, quality requirements and health & safety standards at all times.
• Undertake any other reasonable duties in support of the manufacturing operation.
