Job summary

VIQU IT is seeking an Infrastructure System Engineer to join a 6 month contract, with a 2 day per week onsite presence in the UK. You will install, configure and support Windows Active Directory, manage Hyper-V clusters, and design AWS-based cloud infrastructure.

UK-based hybrid work arrangement, IR35-external, ASAP start. Role requires hands-on experience with AD/Entra ID, Windows Server, GPO, DNS/DHCP, and cloud deployments on AWS.

Qualifications

• Experience: installations, builds, configuration, administration and support of Windows AD in large-scale on-prem and cloud-integrated infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of Hyper-V virtualization, clustering, and VM performance troubleshooting.
• Experience designing, deploying and managing AWS-based infrastructure; familiarity with core services (EC2, S3, VPC, IAM).

Responsibilities

• Manage, maintain, and secure on-premises Active Directory and Azure AD (Entra ID).
• Troubleshoot GPO, DNS, DHCP, and AD replication issues.
• Build, configure and maintain Hyper-V clusters and VM environments; monitor health and performance.
• Design, deploy and manage scalable AWS infrastructure; monitor security, cost and compliance.

My client is looking for Infrastructure System Engineer, you will have experience of installations, builds, configuration, administraion and support of Windows Active Directory large scale infrasturcutres and knowledge of Hyper- V and AWS are essential for this role:

Windows & Active Directory (AD)

• Manage, maintain, and secure on-premises Active Directory and Azure Active Directory (Entra ID).
• Troubleshoot complex Group Policy Object (GPO) issues, DNS, DHCP, and AD replication errors.
• Execute identity management, user provisioning, and multi-factor authentication (MFA) rollouts.
• Perform Active Directory migrations, upgrades, and security hardening.

Hyper-V Virtualization

• Build, configure, and maintain Microsoft Hyper-V clusters and virtual machine environments.
• Monitor resource utilization, storage performance, and system health.
• Troubleshoot hypervisor failures, virtual machine performance bottlenecks, and network connectivity issues.
• Implement disaster recovery, backup solutions, and business continuity plans for virtual workloads.

AWS Cloud Infrastructure

• Design, deploy, and manage scalable cloud infrastructure on Amazon Web Services (AWS).
• Manage AWS core services including EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, Route 53, and RDS.
• Monitor cloud security, compliance, and cost optimization using AWS native tools.
• Troubleshoot AWS networking, security groups, and hybrid cloud connectivity (VPN/Direct Connect).
