Job Description: Technical Support Engineer

Help build and maintain the nation's critical infrastructure, ensuring connectivity and protection 24/7.

What you’ll do:

  • Configure and replace datacentre equipment such as Cisco and Juniper firewalls, Cisco switches, Cisco and Dell server hosts, while maintaining system operation.
  • Provide on-site and on-call support for TPCMS, with the ability to travel throughout the UK.
  • Proactively monitor the availability, performance, and security of TPCMS as part of a 24x7 team.
  • Resolve TPCMS issues directly or by assigning to internal staff or external providers.
  • Engage with the System Management Team to support continuous improvement of TPCMS and customer service.
  • Ensure all Service Level Agreement targets are exceeded.
  • Support the transition of the TPCMS service to other parties by aiding development and training.

This role is ideal for an organized, proactive, and diligent 1st Line Support Engineer. It’s a great opportunity for someone eager to grow in IT support, enjoy problem-solving, and work well in a team. Given the 12-hour shift rotation and fast-paced environment, adaptability and strong communication skills are essential. This role suits someone looking to develop technical skills and contribute to team success.

Key Requirements:

  • Vendor certifications in VMware, MS Windows System Support, Cisco (LAN/WAN), Juniper, IP Trade are beneficial.
  • Knowledge of McAfee SIEM (Security Information and Events Management).
  • Further education in IT/ICT.
