Job summary

Aldwych Consulting is seeking an experienced Health & Safety professional to lead safety, health and wellbeing on a major infrastructure programme. You will shape standards, provide practical guidance and drive improvements on site, coordinating with senior leadership, supply chain partners and clients.

You will scrutinise risk assessments, audits and incident investigations, embedding a culture of safe delivery and continuous improvement across teams and stages.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a SHE role within construction, rail or major civil infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of UK health and safety legislation and how to apply it in a practical project environment.
• Experience in auditing, compliance management, risk assessment and incident investigation.
• Recognised occupational health and safety qualification or equivalent accreditation.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management at all levels.
• Experience on complex projects with multiple contractors and competing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Lead the safety agenda and embed health, safety and wellbeing into day-to-day activities.
• Provide practical guidance on legislation, compliance and safe working practices.
• Lead audits, inspections and assurance activities to drive improvements.
• Support risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work.
• Influence behaviours and coach colleagues to promote safe practices.
• Lead or support investigations into incidents and near misses.
• Use data to monitor performance and drive safety improvements.
• Build partnerships with clients, contractors and regulators to maintain standards.
• Ensure safety is integral to planning and delivery.
• Share best practices across the organisation.
