Job summary

Tilbury Douglas is recruiting a Quantity Surveyor to support our AMP8 delivery across the UK. You will manage commercial aspects on civil, mechanical, electrical and IC scopes, with responsibilities spanning cost forecasting, procurement and final accounts.

The role requires strong measurement, contract knowledge and experience with Water Treatment projects, plus mentoring of junior staff. Site presence and collaboration with project teams are essential.

Qualifications

• Sound and comprehensive understanding of the construction industry and the parties to it.
• Proficient knowledge of measurement and valuation.
• Good knowledge of standard forms of contract.
• Proficient in reading drawings, specifications and construction processes.
• Ability to negotiate with clients/sub-contractors and draft sub contracts.
• Knowledge of CIS.
• Ability to produce accurate monthly cost and value reports and forecasts.
• Experience in mentoring junior staff.
• Experience on Water Treatment projects is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide commercial management on low to medium risk/complexity projects.
• Coordinate with Senior/Managing QS and report accordingly.
• Complete monthly CVR updates with robust cost forecasting.
• liaise with Contracts Managers on daily commercial admin to ensure financial success.
• Undertake subcontract procurement from inquiry to final account.
• Supervise and mentor junior staff.
• Ensure notices/submissions are issued per contract requirements.
• Prepare monthly payment applications and negotiate interim amounts.
• Assist in dispute avoidance/resolution and meetings.
• Manage internal cash flow forecast updates and external client reporting.
