Here at AIS, we have an exciting opportunity available for a Infrastructure Engineer to join our IT team based in Solihull. You will join us on a full-time basis on a 9 month fixed term contract, and in return, you will receive a competitive salary, depending on experience.

As our Infrastructure Engineer you will support and enhance the business systems and services in line with the requirements of the AIS group and its members.

Key responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day to day running of the IT Infrastructure.
  • Experience of utilising the ITIL framework in the delivery and continual service improvement of IT services.
  • Deputisation of IT Infrastructure Manager as required
  • Experience of providing 2nd / 3rd line support covering complex Incident, Problem and Change Management.
  • Continually assess the risks to the IT systems to minimise possible security threats.
  • Create and oversee departmental documentation.
  • Provides status reporting to management.
  • Work with the IT Infrastructure Manager to support the planning and delivery of all departmental projects.
  • Coordinate and implement the installation, testing and development of the IT infrastructure including hardware and software.
  • Investigate and resolve data, development and systems issues.
  • Manage, mentor and train staff within the team, ensuring that they are motivated and equipped to deliver a high-quality service to agreed standards.
  • Assist with the management of service contracts, including vendors, managed service providers and suppliers as well as managing escalations to 3rd parties.
  • Assist with the management, recruitment, supervision and development of the team.

What we’re looking for in our Infrastructure Engineer:

  • Relevant degree and evidence of continuous professional development in an IT role.
  • Experience of managing and mentoring a team.
  • Experience of commissioning services from third parties and managing relationships with suppliers and contractors.
  • Experience of working at a 3rd line technical level.
  • Experience of proactively monitoring security threats to an organisation.
  • Experience and knowledge of Microsoft AD, DHCP, DNS, DFS, Profiles, Group Policy.
  • Experience and knowledge of Windows Server
  • Experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 including Teams.
  • Experience and knowledge of VMware
  • Experience and knowledge of Veeam Backup & Replication.
