Job summary

Arcas Technology Ltd in Manchester is recruiting an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to support a modern Microsoft-based infrastructure. You will work across cloud, on-premises servers, networking and security in a broad internal IT environment, taking ownership of issues and projects from start to finish.

Job description

We're looking for an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to join a growing internal IT team, supporting and developing a modern Microsoft-based infrastructure environment.

This would suit someone with a broad infrastructure background who is comfortable working across cloud, servers, networking and security, rather than being restricted to one specific technology area.

You'll be involved in both day-to-day infrastructure operations and project work, helping to improve the reliability, security and performance of the wider IT environment

Key Responsibilities:

• Supporting and maintaining Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 environments
• Managing Entra ID / Active Directory, Group Policy and identity services
• Supporting Windows Server infrastructure and virtualised environments
• Administration of Intune and endpoint management technologies
• Managing networking including LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, VPNs and firewalls
• Monitoring infrastructure performance, availability and security
• Supporting backup, recovery and business continuity processes
• Troubleshooting escalated infrastructure and connectivity issues
• Delivering infrastructure upgrades, migrations and improvement projects
• Working with third-party suppliers and technology partners
• Producing and maintaining technical documentation

Experience:

You don't need experience with every technology listed, but ideally you'll have a strong background across several of the following:

• Microsoft Cloud: Azure, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune
• Infrastructure: Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP
• Virtualisation: VMware or Hyper-V
• Networking: LAN/WAN, VLANs, VPNs, Wi-Fi, routing and switching
• Security: Firewalls such as Fortinet, Palo Alto, WatchGuard, Cisco or similar
• Backup & Recovery: Veeam or similar technologies
• Automation: PowerShell would be beneficial

We're particularly interested in engineers who have worked within broad internal IT environments and are comfortable taking ownership of technical issues and projects from start to finish.
