Job summary

Love2shop is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to join our PayPoint Group IT Infrastructure team in Liverpool. The role focuses on automation, stabilising the infra and advancing cloud and on-premises capabilities with a strong security and compliance emphasis.

You will handle production support, incident management and drive improvements across Windows and Linux environments, while contributing to DR readiness and change control processes.

Qualifications

• Proven production support or project delivery experience.
• Detail oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to document and explain designs.

Responsibilities

• Provide 2nd/3rd line operational support and incident management.
• Coordinate with 3rd party support for incident resolution.
• Perform RCA, impact analysis and escalation with detailed documentation.
• Ensure compliance with security standards and PCI DSS/ISO27001 where relevant.
• Drive automation of infrastructure tasks and document improvements.
• Maintain DR services and update policies and procedures.
• Cover on-call rotation (1 week out of 4).

Job description

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Infrastructure Team as an Infrastructure Engineer to help us drive stability and improvements to our PayPoint Group’s IT Infrastructure while we continue to push forward with our next gen cloud technology and automation goals.

What will you be doing?

The Infrastructure Engineer will ensure automation of tasks is at the forefront of their thinking to enhance speed of deployment of new project work or existing improvements to the infrastructure.

The ideal person will have a proven track record in the installation, support and maintenance of advanced Windows and Linux Technologies and be able to demonstrate management of incidents through to resolution. They will be able to demonstrate an understanding of Infrastructure services to an elevated level for On-Premise, and In-Cloud technologies. Previous experience of working in the financial sector or the ability to provide examples of working in a service critical environment are advantageous.

As an Infrastructure Engineer they will be responsible for ensuring the Infrastructure Services meet all regulatory requirements, namely PCI DSS, ISO27001, and Cyber Security Essentials. This will include the introduction of standards to ensure conformity within the PayPoint environment.

Be responsible for and deliver

• Operational support of the infrastructure carrying out 2nd and 3rd line analysis of incidents and problems
• Engaging with relevant 3rd party support to assist with incident resolution
• Resolution, Root Cause Analysis, Impact Analysis and Escalation, should be carried out in a timely manner with detailed documenting of solutions in the ticketing platform
• Ensure compliance and operation within all company controls and security standards
• Assist with Projects and Infrastructure Delivery
• Proactively drive automation of infrastructure tasks to guarantee the outcome of repeatable tasks
• Identify improvements to existing processes ensuring that with agreement, these improvements are implemented in line with PayPoint Group standards
• Continuous service improvement through best practice and new and innovative technologies
• Ensure consistency and quality of the service so that all support tickets are progressed in line with operational service levels
• Review and approve changes in line with the Change Management Process
• Implement, maintain and test PayPoint DR services as and when required to do so
• Update documentation, policies and procedures as well as ensuring that they are followed
• Cover on call for 1 week out of 4 per month
• Any other duties where applicable

Windows Server OS’s (Ideally from 2012 to 2025)

Full Windows Stack including DHCP, DNS, AD, CA

Linux (Ideally Ubuntu, RedHat and Rocky)

Microsoft Exchange 2016 - SE

Microsoft Office 365

Microsoft Azure Stack from Compute, Networking, to Azure EntraID

Hyper-V 2012 - 2025

Exposure and understanding of the following -

VMWare

Domain Management and Registrars

System Center

Data Centre Operations & hardware maintenance

Network troubleshooting and associated tools (Wireshark, and CLI tools)

Microsoft SQL Server

Understanding of security in relation to network, server, applications, data and databases

SSL Protocols, Ciphers and certificates

It would be great if you already have…

PCI-DSS compliance

Proficient in PowerShell Scripting, Bash Scripting or Python

Windows Storage Spaces and Storage Spaces Direct

Design of Highly Available Systems

Content Delivery Networks (Such as; CloudFlare)

Experience in -

Delivering projects and solutions from inception to completion

Any experience with the following software products:
