Job summary

Biometric Talent Ltd is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to join a technology team responsible for a broad, modern hybrid infrastructure estate in Bradford. The role covers cloud, on‑premises infrastructure, networking, security and Microsoft technologies to build and maintain secure, resilient platforms.

You will split time between the Bradford office and remote collaboration, with one day per week in the office and occasional travel.

Qualifications

• Proven experience with modern hybrid infrastructure environments.
• Strong experience with on-premises servers, storage and virtualization.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure (PaaS and IaaS).
• Knowledge of LAN/WAN, switching, firewalls, routing and network security.
• Experience in monitoring, proactive issue resolution and root cause analysis.

Responsibilities

• Implementing, developing and maintaining Azure PaaS and IaaS infrastructure.
• Manage on-premises and private cloud infrastructure including virtualization platforms.
• Oversee networking, storage, backup and recovery platforms.
• Collaborate with Service Desk and Application Support as SME escalation point.
• Document technical architectures and share knowledge across teams.

We’re looking for an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to join a technology team responsible for a broad, modern hybrid infrastructure estate. How you’ll spend your day

As an Infrastructure Engineer, you’ll have a varied role spanning both operational support and technical improvement. You’ll be responsible for implementing, developing and maintaining:

• Azure PaaS and IaaS, including VMs, App Services, Storage, Azure SQL, VNets and Application Gateway
• On‑premises and private cloud infrastructure, including HCI and virtualisation platforms
• Networking, including LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, switching, firewalls and routing
• Microsoft 365, including Entra ID, Intune, Defender, Exchange, SharePoint and Teams
• Server, storage and virtualisation environments
• Backup and recovery platforms
• Monitoring, patching and proactive infrastructure management
• Troubleshooting and root cause analysis
• Technical documentation and knowledge sharing

You’ll also act as an SME escalation point for Service Desk and Application Support teams, helping resolve more complex technical issues.

The role offers plenty of variety. One day you could be working on infrastructure within the data centre, and the next collaborating with the Development Team on a new integration or web application.

The technology environment

You’ll be working across a predominantly Microsoft‑based environment, including:

• Microsoft Server, Active Directory and DNS
• Azure PaaS and IaaS
• VMware / VxRail HCI
• Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune and Defender
• Cisco Meraki networking
• Rubrik and AvePoint backup solutions
• Azure DevOps
• Storage, virtualisation and networking technologies

Experience with Nutanix would also be advantageous.

What you’ll bring to this role

We’re looking for someone with strong hands‑on infrastructure experience who enjoys solving problems and working collaboratively. You’ll ideally have:

• Proven experience working in a modern enterprise infrastructure environment
• Strong experience with on‑premises servers, storage and virtualisation
• Hands‑on experience with Microsoft Azure across both PaaS and IaaS
• Strong knowledge of LAN/WAN, switching, firewalls, routing and network security
• Experience with infrastructure monitoring and proactive issue resolution
• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
• Experience working across server, network, storage and security technologies
• A practical, collaborative approach and a willingness to keep developing your technical knowledge

You don’t need to be an expert in every technology listed. What’s important is that you have a strong infrastructure foundation, enjoy learning and can confidently work across a varied technical estate.
