Job summary

Assystem UK is seeking a Consultant Ecologist to join our growing ecology team and contribute to a diverse range of projects across the UK. You will work alongside experienced ecologists and multidisciplinary teams, providing practical ecological input from planning through to construction and operation.

This role focuses on delivering ecological surveys, assessments and mitigation while supporting project teams to manage ecological risks and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science or related discipline.
• Experience conducting ecological surveys and assessments.
• Knowledge of UK wildlife legislation, planning policy and ecological best practice.
• Experience with EIA/HRA/Biodiversity Net Gain concepts.
• Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and manage workload effectively.

Responsibilities

• Deliver ecological surveys and assessments for infrastructure and development projects.
• Prepare high-quality technical reports and ecological documentation.
• Support Environmental Impact Assessments, HRAs and Biodiversity Net Gain work.
• Provide practical ecological advice to project teams and clients.
• Support ecological monitoring and ensure compliance with licences and wildlife legislation.
• Contribute to project meetings, site visits and client discussions.
