Job summary

Arcadis is seeking a Consultant Ecologist in the UK to work within our Environmental team on a broad portfolio of ecology schemes for construction and development projects. You will contribute to PEAs, biodiversity strategies, and reports while applying environmental legislation and guidance.

You'll undertake surveys, assist with licence applications, and help develop mitigation and monitoring plans, working with authorities and clients in a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in writing Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEAs) and contributing to scoping/baseline sections of EIAs and biodiversity net gain reports.
• Understanding of environmental legislation, policy and guidance.
• Ability to identify a range of taxa using keys and field guides.
• Ability to undertake extended Phase 1 habitat surveys.
• Ideally hold a survey licence for one or more species.
• Adherence to biosecurity and health & safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Undertake and assist on ecological surveys.
• Assist with producing PEAs and biodiversity strategies and other documents.
• Assist with licence applications, including developing mitigation and monitoring.
• Undertake/supervise mitigation and monitoring of licensed work and liaise with authorities.
• Participate in training on best practices and survey standards.
