Job summary

Apple Inc. in Bedfordshire is seeking a Design Manager to lead and coordinate design delivery for a major infrastructure package, spanning highways, drainage, foundations and utilities.

You will drive feasibility through to on-site delivery, oversee external civil, structural and infrastructure consultants, ensure technical accuracy and regulatory compliance, and align design with project timelines and commercial targets. This is a permanent role with travel to London as required.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 5 years' experience in a design management role for a Main Contractor or Consultant with a focus on civil engineering or infrastructure packages.
• Sector/Package experience to include: Highways/Roads, Drainage, Piling & Ground Engineering, Earthworks, or Major Utilities.
• HNC or Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management OR comparable qualification.

Responsibilities

• Oversee design management from feasibility to on-site delivery.
• Coordinate with external civil, structural, and infrastructure consultants.
• Ensure compliance with standards, regulations and environmental requirements.
• Drive efficient design process aligned with timelines and commercial targets.

Duties & Responsibilities: While focusing primarily on early feasibility and procurement stages, the Infrastructure Design Manager will oversee technical compliance and design management, monitoring on-site design coordination and managing the performance of external civil, structural, and infrastructure consultants. Acting as a liaison between the design team, client, local highways authorities, statutory undertakers, and on-site delivery team. Ensuring technical accuracy and compliance with all relevant standards, section agreements (e.g., S278, S38, S104), and environmental regulations. Driving efficient design process aligned with project timelines, construct-ability, and commercial targets.
