Job summary

The Infrastructure Design Manager at a market-leading Tier 1 Main Contractor will lead design delivery for an infrastructure and civils package in Bedfordshire, with travel to the London office as required. You will coordinate external consultants and manage the design process from feasibility to on-site delivery.

Applicants should have 5+ years in design management for civil projects, with expertise in highways, drainage, piling, earthworks and utilities, and hold an HNC or degree in Civil

Company & Project: A market-leading Tier 1 Main Contractor with a secure, long-term pipeline of work across Bedfordshire are seeking a talented Design Manager to join their team. This role offers the opportunity to lead and support design delivery across an exciting major project, specialising in the design management of Infrastructure and Civils packages, spanning highways/roads, drainage systems, deep foundations and piling, earthworks, and major utility. The Infrastructure Design Manager will be responsible for managing the design process from early feasibility and planning stages through to on-site coordination and delivery, taking responsibility for a major infrastructure or civils packages.

Duties & Responsibilities

While focusing primarily on early feasibility and procurement stages, the Infrastructure Design Manager will oversee technical compliance and design management, monitoring on-site design coordination and managing the performance of external civil, structural, and infrastructure consultants. Acting as a liaison between the design team, client, local highways authorities, statutory undertakers, and on-site delivery team. Ensuring technical accuracy and compliance with all relevant standards, section agreements (e.g., S278, S38, S104), and environmental regulations. Driving efficient design process aligned with project timelines, construct-ability, and commercial targets.

Desirable Experience
