Job summary

Turner & Townsend is seeking a personable Cost Assurance Consultant to join the Infrastructure team across Bristol, Cardiff and Plymouth. You will review incurred costs, scrutinise supply chain practices, and drive efficiency on major programmes.

The role demands strong analytical, people skills and the ability to communicate findings clearly. Successful candidates will have experience in assurance or audit within construction or commercial settings, familiarity with NEC3/4 and cost-reimbursable

Qualifications

• Assurance or audit in a construction, commercial or accountancy setting.
• Construction industry technical matters such as procurement routes, disallowed cost areas, target price setting.
• Experience with open book / cost reimbursable contracts (NEC3/4, FIDIC, IChemE).
• Data analysis – ability to review and draw insights from large quantities of data (PowerBI/Tableau).
• Report writing – communicate complex messages succinctly to maximise impact.
• People and organisational management – experience of leading a team and handling peaks and troughs.
• Presentation skills – confident speaker who can engage stakeholders.
• Degree qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant subject; professional body membership or equivalent.
• SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role.

Responsibilities

• Undertake assurance reviews across major construction projects and programmes.
• Assess supply chain systems, processes and contract administration for contractual compliance and control.
• Identify risks and opportunities, providing practical recommendations to improve project outcomes.
• Lead and aid junior team members in development and growth.
• Contribute to bids and business generation for the service line.
• Support refinement of internal training and product management within the service line.
• Produce written findings with key recommendations communicated succinctly.
• Engage with the supply chain to encourage collaboration at project/programme level.
• Assess client commercial controls, governance against contractual requirements.
• Conduct reviews of variations, claims, forecasting, risk allocation and performance.
